Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice supports families from across Beds, Herts and Milton Keynes who are caring for a child or young person diagnosed with a life-limiting condition.

These children have a wide variety of conditions. Some may live only a few months whilst others will live for a number of years. Almost all will die before reaching adulthood.

Their staff offer medical and social care, emotional support and friendship to the whole family, throughout the child's illness and after their death, for as long as it is needed and is provided free-of-charge.

The Pasque Charity is a registered charity and depends on the general public to raise around 75% of its annual running costs. In this current financial year they need to spend around £4 million to run at full service.

The primary source of funds are voluntary donations and fundraising activity by the general public and supporters, donations from corporates alongside employee fundraising, and charitable trusts. Only a small percentage of income comes from statutory sources.

Here are three very touching stories, which highlight the vital service that Keech Cottage Children's Hospice provides. It also shows how much they need our support

How Keech Cottage helped us

Keech Cottage is a fantastic place that gave my family so much help and support during difficult times. My brother used to visit Keech on a regular basis and made life long friends whilst there. Unfortunately we lost him in February 2007 to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a condition where slow, progressive, muscle wasting leads to increasing weakness and disability.

He really enjoyed his days at Keech, and gave my family and him a much needed break , which is vital when caring for a seriously ill child 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The staff there are amazing and always went out of their way to help if they could. They even sent someone to my wedding to help my brother during the day so everyone could have a good time without worrying.

Keech Cottage is so important to so many families in similar situations. It will always be a very important place to me and my family with very happy memories of my brother’s time there.
